Je Bent Jong en Je Wil Wat
Je Bent Jong en Je Wil Wat is the social festival for young people. During this edition everything revolves around the theme: 'Polarization' and how we can connect again. Polarization means that groups of people are increasingly opposing each other because of different opinions or beliefs. This makes it harder to talk or work together, especially on important topics such as politics or religion. We want to connect, show that differences can often be bridged and get people to step out of their bubble.
Expect a day of workshops, inspiring speakers and music. We also elect the new youth representatives on this day. Meet new people, share your experiences, ask critical questions and discover how we can build bridges together instead of walls.
Description of the programme
Our program consists of various workshops, panel discussions and ongoing programming and is hosted by Raounak Khaddari and co-host. Herewith the information from our program booklet:
Living library: During the Living Library, you will engage in conversation with a "living book"-someone who often faces prejudice. Think of a transgender person, someone with autism, an ex-prisoner or an adoptee. In an open and respectful conversation, you can ask anything you want. Choose your own "book" and dive into a beautiful conversation.
Panel discussion 1: polarization (Kamran Ullah, Farid Bouchlaghmi, Eric van der Burg)
Panel discussion 2: polarization & Social Media (Doortje Smithuijsen, Thierry Marchand, Lotje Beek, Younes Douari)
Panel discussion 3: Building bridges, not walls (Shamir Madhar and Vida Niazian)
SNS (workshop): A 2-euro Tag? Or friends throwing money around? Money matters are personal and can affect your relationships considerably. But what if you could talk about it in a fun way, with someone who looks at it very differently? SNS invites you to a good conversation about money, based on honest opinions of young people. Will we see you there?
Oxfam Novib (workshop): How do you create positive change in times of and polarizing society? Oxfam Novib hosts a panel discussion with young changemakers.
Young Equal (workshop): Young Equal stands for freedom and acceptance for all. In this workshop you will discover your own prejudices and learn what you can do to change the world.
