Creative community
The cultural community of the Tolhuistuin is located along the IJ, surrounding the large historic garden, and is bordered by various office buildings, the Reading House, and the Bridge House.
Tolhuistuin is the hub within a cultural and social ecosystem. With our unique programme approach, we work in co-creation with multiple programme partners to create a cultural programme for a wide audience: democratic, progressive, inclusive.
The basis of this network is the carefully curated community at Tolhuistuin: about 30 cultural organisations that have their workplace in the iconic buildings on the site. This community is a partner in the cultural programme of Tolhuistuin: from leading festivals to social organisations, from theatre makers to future thinkers, from designers to dancers, from filmmakers to musicians.

About Tolhuistuin
Tolhuistuin is 18,000 square metres of space for art and culture. The idyllic garden connects the various iconic buildings with halls for concerts and performances, a hip-hop school, a delicious restaurant, a reading house, and an offices for 30 cultural organisations. Next to the creative community that has their offices at Tolhuistuin, we work with a large number of regular and changing programme partners.
