Represent Jezelf: Fuck your own responsibility?!
Represent Jezelf: Fuck your own responsibility?!
Represent Jezelf
In this presentation, the hosts of 'Represent Yourself' take you on a lighthearted and interactive journey to explore what the world might look like if we shifted responsibility from the individual to big business and governments. After all, how are we going to solve the crisis by keeping the caps on our soda bottles, while Israel is allowed to drop so many bombs on Gaza that they emit as much CO2 as Switzerland does in an entire year? This isn't just about pointing fingers at everything that's going wrong, but rather pointing the way forward. Because the solutions are much closer than you think, if we dare to think more radically.
Attention: this presentation is in Dutch.
Warming Up Festival
This year, Warming Up Festival is not asking how you can live more sustainably. It is asking why so many people, especially young people, have tuned out of a conversation that may affect them more than anyone.
Not out of indifference, but because of mental exhaustion. Because of climate anxiety and guilt. Because of a system that places the emphasis on individual responsibility, while the biggest polluters and fossil fuel subsidies largely remain out of the spotlight. And sometimes also because a climate movement that seems to demand perfection rather than participation.
You can’t save the world alone. Fortunately, you don’t have to. Warming Up Festival therefore takes a different approach: solidarity instead of penance.
For three days, the festival brings together art, journalism, music and conversation around the question of how individual choices relate to systems that are largely beyond our control, and where we can actually make a difference as a collective. It is a festival that makes room for imperfection, for doubt and for new forms of engagement.

About our event partners
Represent Jezelf is a youth platform that translates world events into the everyday lives of the young people Represent represents. After all, young people supposedly aren’t interested in politics, until you ask them what they think about high rents, genocide in Palestine, or unaffordable groceries. We do this through content on social media channels.
