Nieuw kunstwerk Entree van Noord: What Would You Choose?
From old men playing real-time Risk with the world to the weekly femicide in our country and the ever-increasing hatred of immigrants. It doesn't take much to wonder everyday in what bizarre world we find ourselves in. Whether you're heading down the rabbit hole or have been in our surreal wonderland for a while, we all feel it: there's no turning back. Whether you like it or not, you're taking part in this global game, but at which level are you playing? Are you consistently losing, or are you leveling up and playing to win? One thing is clear: we've all arrived at the Mad Hatter's tea party, where we've lost track of time and most everyone's mad.
Bizarre times call for radical imagination. What if you had the opportunity to choose between continuing in this form or calling it to a halt? Do you continue playing or do you reset the game? Do we push through and resist within this construct? Or should we let it all collapse first? Not to give up, but to give space to new possibilities. Not out of cynicism, but out of curiosity and hope. What if we dare to press that one button that resets it all? Doesn't freedom begin right there, where we regain power over ourselves? Do we dare to imagine such a thing?
"It doesn't matter that she shouldn't, that she never would. What matters is that she could, if she wanted…" — Naomi Alderman, The Power
LMFC & Layan Alhafith
This artwork was created by the art collective LFMC in collaboration with visual artist Layan Alhafith.
Lowrey, Foley & McClane (LFMC) is a production house run by a collective of interdisciplinary creators. Our work contributes to a more focused and inclusive cultural sector and creative industry. We do this by creating our own work and offering (physical) space, network, guidance and platform to both our own creators and the next generation of creatives. With our productions, we nurture the collective imagination of our community. LFMC offers space and support for unique voices and underrepresented stories.
