In Dub Sessions

In Dub Sessions traces a line from Kingston's soundsystem culture and the studios of the late 1960s through to the dancefloors of today; a recognition that much of modern electronic music's bass-led, spatial vocabulary owes a deep debt to Jamaican mixing tradition. Eight Saturdays this summer at Tolhuistuin, we invite Amsterdam's most committed selectors to play across the full breadth of that sound: roots and lovers rock through dub techno, ambient dub, leftfield disco and beyond. Stacks' homestyle cooking, a summer garden, and a programme built for listening.

As the driving force behind @traumgarten.world, this Dutch-born artist with Algerian and Surinamese roots refuses to settle for the predictable. His sets focus on blurring genre boundaries, mixing dub-influenced rhythms, leftfield electronics, and unexpected sonic shifts. Beyond his own dj sets, he has cultivated a vital ecosystem for experimental electronics through his traumgarten label, co-founding Subterra, events and radio residencies on @kiosk.radio, Red Light Radio and @echoboxradio. Expect a narrative that bridges the gap between the mental and the physical.

This programme is part of the Stacks summer Garden pop-up. Every Friday and Saturday they also prepare some of their signature dishes for you to enjoy. The kitchen is open from 17:00 to make sure you can grab some nice food while enjoying the In Dub Sessions!
