Dit is er te beleven op Warming Up Festival!
Warming Up Festival is about more than just music. Surrounding the program, we have a full side program waiting for you in our Foyer: eat at the Climate Restaurant, talk with people who are committed to the climate, and browse records, books, clothing and art. Come on time, take your time, and go home with new ideas (and maybe a new record, merch or ideas).
- The Climate Restaurant
Eat consciously: come to Tolhuistuin’s special pop-up Climate Restaurant. In the middle of the festival buzz, we’ll serve our own menu during Warming Up Festival, specially put together around the climate theme. You’ll find the menu on a separate card at the back bar, opposite the club room. - Bookshop
In the foyer you’ll find the bookshop Boekhandel over het Water, with a selection of inspiring books on art and climate justice. Among others, you’ll find the books by Patrick van Haperen and Tallita Ortiz de la Torre, and by Chris de Ploeg. - Climate Organisations in the Foyer
Start a conversation with people who work for the climate every day. The organisations Milieudefensie Jong, Plant een Olijfboom and SOS Papua will be in the foyer with posters and flyers, ready to talk about their organisation and what climate justice means to them. Noa Heertje will also be talking with these organisations, so if you don’t know where to start, join one of the interviews! - Excelsior Records
Excelsior Records will be there with merchandise and records from their most activist bands. You’ll also find the records of Girls to the Front, the feminist punk bands playing later in the evening, released by Excelsior. - Slow Fashion Show: Upcycle Workshop
Slow Fashion Show is coming to Warming Up Festival with an upcycle workshop. There will be two racks of clothing waiting to be given new life. They’ll also tell you about the mission of Slow Fashion Show. Curious about Slow Fashion Show? Drop by, learn something new and maybe take home something beautiful. Please note: there are only 4 spots per session in this workshop, so make sure to get there early. - Swap Club: Clothing Swap
Do you have clothes that no longer suit your style? Bring them along and swap them for something new at the Swap Club during Warming Up Festival. Curious how it works? You can find more information about the Swap Club here. - YUSU Selectors
From 6:45 PM, the YUSU Selectors will be playing in the Foyer. About YUSU: we do our best to contribute to a more progressive society in which everyone is treated equally, and we strive to create an environment that doesn’t exclude or discriminate against any social group. They do this through their coffee bars, events and music. - Exhibitions
Throughout the entire festival, the exhibitions are part of the side program. Take the time to check them out. - Hey Nothing Concert
Visitors of the Hey Nothing concert at Paradiso are also warmly welcome at the side program: the YUSU Selectors, the restaurant and the Girls to the Front bands.
About our event partners
Warming Up Festival
This year, Warming Up Festival is not asking how you can live more sustainably. It is asking why so many people, especially young people, have tuned out of a conversation that may affect them more than anyone.
Not out of indifference, but because of mental exhaustion. Because of climate anxiety and guilt. Because of a system that places the emphasis on individual responsibility, while the biggest polluters and fossil fuel subsidies largely remain out of the spotlight. And sometimes also because a climate movement that seems to demand perfection rather than participation.
You can’t save the world alone. Fortunately, you don’t have to. Warming Up Festival therefore takes a different approach: solidarity instead of penance.
For three days, the festival brings together art, journalism, music and conversation around the question of how individual choices relate to systems that are largely beyond our control, and where we can actually make a difference as a collective. It is a festival that makes room for imperfection, for doubt and for new forms of engagement.
