In Dub Sessions

In Dub Sessions traces a line from Kingston's soundsystem culture and the studios of the late 1960s through to the dancefloors of today; a recognition that much of modern electronic music's bass-led, spatial vocabulary owes a deep debt to Jamaican mixing tradition. Eight Saturdays this summer at Tolhuistuin, we invite Amsterdam's most committed selectors to play across the full breadth of that sound: roots and lovers rock through dub techno, ambient dub, leftfield disco and beyond. Stacks' homestyle cooking, a summer garden, and a programme built for listening.

July starts of strong with YoungWoman. She is a fearless sonic maximalist digging back through dub's bass lineage and forward into its wildest descendants, from dubstep to the outer reaches of club music. Her irresistible playfulness and an unmistakable artistry have earned her appearances at Lowlands, Draaimolen, Rewire Festival, Down The Rabbit Hole Festival, De School, C12, Garage Noord, to name a few and have led to her being named twice as one of the top DJ talents in the Netherlands.
