Double Nature Summit
Double Nature Summit
The Double Nature Summit is a participatory platform bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders, including regenerative pioneers, investors, scientists, businesses, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, indigenous people, and local communities. Our common goal is to double nature – applying regenerative practices to re-store carbon dioxide in the land and oceans. We think this can be done best with entrepreneurial drive and distributed scaling and we work towards a regenerative economy with wich we can live in fairly distributed prosperity within planetary boundaries.
Get inspired by pioneers and innovations, learn about current ecosystem challenges, exchange knowledge and expertise, grow collaborations, and contribute to the design of new initiatives that help nature grow twice as big and strong. Join the community of regenerators!
Why do we want to Double Nature?
As humanity we face multiple interlinked ecological challenges. A common solution to all of them is regenerating ecosystems. When looking at climate change in particular, in addition to reducing emissions, we need to re-store CO2 from the atmosphere back into the land and oceans.
Nature is already doing this via the carbon cycle – using carbon from the atmosphere as building blocks for carbon based life! Half of humanities current CO2 emissions for example are sequestered in nature with only the other half ending up as additional CO2 in the atmosphere each year. By regenerating ecosystems we can grow this capacity of the living planet that we are a part of! We can work with nature, even as nature, to re-store carbon. Nature already stores 1500 gigaton (GT) of CO2 which is also about as much CO2 as we currently need to move out of the atmosphere and back into the land and oceans to avoid extinction. So roughly speaking – let’s double nature.
